Reds in the Community’s Shadow Scholarship programme allows players aged 16-19 to train daily in a professional environment with UEFA qualified coaches.
The youngsters will develop in the ultimate playing experience, coupled with an equally impressive education setup.
With the initiative being run at Oakwell, players will have access to state of the art sports science, physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilities.
There will also be the chance to play both with and against the Barnsley FC Academy teams.
Whilst representing Barnsley FC on the field, the players will study for a BTEC and there is the opportunity to study at degree level.
Barnsley Academy coach Mark Tinker will lead on the programme, working closely with staff from RITC and the Academy to develop players both on and off the pitch.
Tinker has previously worked for Huddersfield Town, Leeds United and Bradford City, having also coached abroad for FC Blades – a team linked to MLS side LA Galaxy.
Alongside the numerous benefits in a sporting and academic setting, there will also be the opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime training camp in Barcelona.
